8/11/2022 - New York City carriage horse collapses.

A horse pulling a carriage along a street in Midtown Manhattan collapsed in the middle of the road on Wednesday. This has restarted a heated debate over the future of the carriage horses in New York City.

The horse was pulling the carriage up 9th avenue when it suddenly fell to the ground, witnesses said.

The horse, named Ryder, stayed resting on the hot pavement for some time, but eventually got back up on his own.

6/2/2022 - The galley was detected last Tuesday at 10:20 a.m. on Antoni Maura Avenue , forcing an elderly horse lame in both hands to circulate in poor conditions .

The horse was declared unfit on May 5 , so the Local Police reported the driver and permanently removed the horse from service. In addition, he was informed that if he moved with the animal again, it would be detained.

5/4/2018 - Two horses slipped and collapsed at the Ogden Point cruise ship terminal while pullling a trolley full of passengers.

The official statement from the carriage company said that "Both horses fell to the ground, where they remained calm and waited for their handlers to remove their harness. Once they were given the ok from their team, the horses easily stood and walked back to their staging area.”

This video shows how the carriage companies lied to try and cover up this incident and decieve the public yet again. There is a clear lack of professionalism on display with the public and tourists doing much of the work getting these horses up. It is also clear the horses did not "easily" get up, but struggled greatly.

When will the city stop supporting this inhumane and corrupt industry?

2/6/2018 - A man caught on camera hitting and kicking a horse before a parade in New Orleans has been issued a citation for animal cruelty, animal rights advocates said Tuesday.

The Louisiana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals did not identify the rider who was seen abusing a horse in a video taken Friday during the Krewe of Oshun parade. The man was a “guest rider” with the Nu Generations riding group and has been issued a citation for animal cruelty, as well as an arraignment date, according to the nonprofit animal rights group.
